(1625 - 1626) Charles I - Tower Mint - Shilling. Obv. Very weakly struck especially above head where the mintmark should be - so unknown ! Rev. Similar weak strike but right side of mintmark partly visible. I thought that it was part of the 'Castle' mintmark but a more knowledgeable collector has telephoned to suggest that in fact what one can see is the base or steps of the 'Cross Calvary' mintmark. The coin is round with virtually all the legend clear, except where there is the weak strike. Centrally struck and with virtually no hint of having been clipped. S. 2784
