1848 Penny Ad - (No overdate). Very similar to 1848 Ae - (No overdate) Similar to Type Ab Type Ab except that the 4 is now slightly lower but the date needs re-striking as the foot of and still to the right of the double tooth and the the 1 has virtually lost it's base, especially on last 8 is aligned more over tooth than gap. the left side. The foot of the 4 is completely gone * The I of DEI is slightly double struck but the and the whole of the left side, of the main part, of understrike 8 is only just visible to the left side the numeral is very weak. I of DEI double struck. otherwise is in correct height alignment.

1848 penny Ea - 8 over 7 (Type 1) as per 'C' but with all the numerals double struck ! The more raised numerals are struck to the right of the lower numerals * In fact the last 8 (over the 7) appears to have a line below the double striking indicating that possibly that there was a third attempt of the 8 being re-punched !
1848 Penny F - 8 over 7 (Type 1) as per 'C' but the 7 is more clearly defined in this type than any other. The top bar of the 7 shows very clearly inside the top section of the 8. The front lower tip of the 7 shows outside the top circle of the 8 at the mid point. The back of the 7 shows at the mid point, on the right hand side of the 8. The sloping down bar of the 7 shows clearly in the right lower section of the 8 - touching the inner side of the 8. Lastly a small fraction of the foot of the 7 shows below the lower circle of the 8.
