CP 1857 B

1857 Copper Penny (Type 1) - Date: Style B - Close 7 to 5 (9 1/2 beads)

CP 1857 C

1857 Copper Penny (Type 1 & 4) - 10 bead spacing - Date: Style C

The base of the 1 is lower than the other 3 numerals '857'

The 7 has no down tooth at end of top bar.

Note - The larger size border tooth is now central below 5

CP 1857 D

1857 Copper Penny (Type 1 & 4) - Date: Style D - the 7 has a strong down point

The 7 has been seen both over a tooth or a gap (9 to 10 bead spacing)

Note - The larger size border tooth is now central below 5

* There is an example that has a 'bit' of 5 over 5 showing (lower) See CP 1857 G (below)

CP 1857 E

1857 Copper Penny (Type 4) - Date: Style E - the 7 has a long 'down' leg with a short top bar.

Possibly scarcer date font type to the other shorter squatter type of 7's.

   CP 1857 F

1857 Copper Penny (Type 4) - Date: Style E - the 7 has a long 'down' leg with a short top bar.

Similar to CP 1857 F except that this example the 7 has been re-struck at least twice.

A thicker leg 7 can be seen to the right of the 7, at the top back and part way down the centre back.

Possibly an even slightly slimmer leg 7 was used, at some stage as part shows below and

to the left centre of the leg.
