1937 'Official' Coronation silver medallion 

          as issued by the Royal Mint.

  

  

Obverse: GEORGE VI CROWNED  12 MAY 1937 - bust of King George VI, facing left

Reverse: QUEEN ELIZABETH  12 MAY 1937 - bust of Queen Elizabeth, facing left

We have two types of the silver issue;

The large at 57 mm diameter, weighs 92.1 grams of 0.925 fine silver = 2.74 ounces of pure silver

The small at 32 mm diameter, weights 15.4 grams of 0.925 fine silver = 0.458 ounces of pure silver

The larger silver medallion comes in the original box of issue as shown above.

The larger silver medallion was struck with a matt or frosted finish

The box has slight discolouration on one edge.

The smaller silver medallion was stuck with a bright finish

The inside of the box is very slightly scuffed.

The medallion appears to be in virtually unused condition
