CP 1826 B - (Peck 1425) - Rev. Type B shield - thin line down arms of saltire

Obv. Strong flaw in the metal or major die flaw  - running from edge, between O & R of GEORGIUS across lower tip of neck, between 2 & 6 of date, virtually to edge. The die is about to break off in this area !

Another die crack/flaw is just visible from edge - through the V of “IV” (11 o’clock) into George’s hair for 7 mm. Another tiny edge crack just above the D of DEI – that one only effects the edge.

There is another die crack/flaw from just above the ribbon-bow to between I T of GRATIA with another short strand going into the I of GRATIA.

The obverse die is in serious trouble !!

Reverse:

Rev. Struck from a worn die as the foot of the T and feet of both N's are missing.

Otherwise all other letters have full serifs both top and bottom.

Obverse has much lustre 85% and the reverse is nicely toned with a faint wash of lustre overall.

Apart from the die cracks on the obverse (which it's not the coin's fault !

It is a very nice example with this scarce "broken letters" reverse and is probably rare in this grade.
