The
British Bronze Penny (Victoria) 1860 to 1901 December 2009 Over
the last five years I have been working to replace my earlier book - The
British Bronze Penny
1860 1970 (1986). Many new varieties have been found and prices
of the Victorian bronze pennies have increased quite considerably.
Originally I considered updating my original book but so much needed
changing and none of the smaller printers had the equipment to punch 15 holes!
It therefore seemed appropriate to rework the book completely. I decided that
the format should be smaller - A5 size so it would be
easier to carry around. A ring binder is used to hold the pages but this time
with standard 6 holes. The pictures are now all in colour. The main obverse and
reverse pictures are approximately 3 inches or 76 mm in size and are still shown
on split pages (each page half this size) so that obverses and reverses can
still be matched up. This time, however, I have concentrated on The Victorian Bronze series of 1860 to 1901 as that is the area that most new varieties have been found. It is also the period that has seen some spectacular price rises in the last 5 years. The Specialised edition has - 4 new obverse and 3 new reverse dies have also been added plus a large number of new varieties with 338 pictures.

Prices The retail pricing of this book has been as kept as low as possible. The printing of this book
in best possible quality, with such a large
quantity of colour pictures
and a fairly limited first print run has increased costs considerably over
having an average quality print and pictures in black and white for the book. This
book should retail for approximately £10.00 to £15.00 more, per copy, than the
price shown below
but, as I am retailing the book myself rather than through wholesalers and not
promoting it with advertising, other than on my website, I can pass this saving
on to you, the collector. The
price of the Specialised edition (202 pages) is £50.00 I
have obtained some spare binders for anyone that wishes to carry just
part of an edition with them, to a coin fair, auction, coin shop, etc. Postage cost: Specialised edition UK
