1729 Maundy 1d - Obv, 2nd G of GEORGIVS is broken at top. GRATIA has R over G, the T has a very weak top & probably has the R under it. The I over A (slightly to the left of the I). DEI GRATIA is struck over the legend of George I which read only DEI. GRA.
As we now have another example of this date with the I of the 'old' DEI just to the left and touching the G of GRA and the R of the 'old' GRA is under the T of GRATIA. The rest of the under letters are unclear as the coin was probably struck from a rusty die.
