1927 Reverse types
Rev. D - The centre has a crowned shield with 3 Lions in top left quarter (England) Rampant Lion in top right quarter (Scotland); Harp in lower left quarter (Wales) and 3 Lions in lower right quarter (England) surrounded by the garter reading HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENCE. Small FID FED at top left outer edge and IND IMP at top right outer edge. HALF at lower left outer edge and CROWN at lower right outer edge. The date 1927 separated at the base. Rev. E - The centre has a different style shield with NO crown on top. The shield is different from the previous shield in that it is narrow across the centre. There are still 3 Lions in top left quarter (England); Rampant Lion in top right quarter (Scotland); Harp in lower left quarter (Wales) and 3 Lions in lower right quarter (England). Entwined crowned G's on either side of the shield at 3 & 9 o'clock. Larger FID FED at top left outer edge and IND IMP at top right outer edge. HALF ● CROWN ● 1927 in lower quarter with the date at 4 o'clock. * The reverse was only used for the proof issue of this date, in a set. This reverse was used for currency coins between 1928 and 1936
